Lined Pine

tortlemon Jan 09, 2010 07:50 AM

Greetings from western NY. Look at what you're missing!
A few photos: my female 2007 Lined Pine, my home and my newly made christmas tree storage tub rack(I'm making a second one now;what else is there to do?).
And the snow keeps on falling....

Nice rack... I still get a kick out of saying that. I keep toying w/ the idea of making my own, but wil probably wait til we move to a bigger place. Beautiful snake.
You had a picture of your house covered with some white stuff. What is that? You'll have to forgive my ignorance, I live in SoCal

I thought that photo might be enlightening to some. Google "snow" to find out more

Nice looking snake! What are the dimensions of the tubs? They look big and more squared off than the old rummer maids I have been using.

I also noticed what looked like harlan sani-chips as a substrate. Any luck with that stuff? I used it for a while but got a bit worried that they might be an irritant when consumed with a food item.... not that the aspen I use might not cause the same issues......

When I look at pictures like that I miss the snow..... a few months out in it and I would probably be back to loving the SW and its 70 degree and distinct lack of snow!

Stay warm

That nice looking snake came directly from you.
The tub floor dimensions are 48"X16"W and are 11.5"tall inside without lids. Right now Walmart has them marked down to $20each, but they don't last long and they only carry them at Christmas time.
Actually that isn't the Harlan Sani-Chips. It is a J.P.Murphy Sani-Chip. I drove 1.5 hours from my house to a little factory/warehouse to get them. Found out when I got there that they are mixed hardwood - not aspen. I bought a bunch at about $5 per 2.2cu.ft. bag since I was there and they work good so far. It makes spot cleaning easy. But next time I will spent the extra(about $25 per 2.2cuft bag shipped) for Harlan since it is aspen. I'm hoping it causes no problems from ingestion.

Nice pine! Looks pretty muscular. You should make an impersonation of al gore out of all that snow! 11 degrees in TX this week...

Russ, I picked up four of those same containers a couple weeks back(and already had two of them). They make great large colubrid enclosures. Plenty of room for the female northern I got from you, along w/ a big male, when they wake up.
Nice female lined pine. I need one of those myself.

Some walmarts carry them as christmas tree storage boxes before christmas. They are actually Iris VE-175 plastic storage boxes. Aprox 4'long, 14" high with lid on and 16" wide.

Walmart is selling them as of today at $20 apiece- less than half the Reptiletubs.com price... Lovely lime green top too TJ

I wasn't to happy about the green top either. The first couple I bought had clear lids. I could be mistaken but I don't think reptile tubs carries them anymore.

I left the tops at Walmart so I wouldn't have to worry about throwing them out.
