Once again I forgot about this show which is going on right now. I'm gonna go tomorrow. I live only about 30 minutes away. One of my favorite mexican restaurants is over there too, El Merendero. Anyone else going?

Been there before and it was way cool, but being out here in NM it's a no go. Can't wait to get back to S Cal!

I made it to the show this afternoon. Checked out Karl's awesome Flame Brooksi and Hypo-E Mex Mex babies, and saw a really nice Vanishing Pattern Honduran that I'd love to have bought. But I only had about three fitty (South Park reference), and Bob Applegate made me a deal I couldn't refuse.
So I ended up with a pair of Sinaloans... one is a very well started Striped female 2/3 het Albino, and the other is a smaller male Albino 2/3 het Striped. I figured this pairing will produce definite double hets even if they don't prove to be het themselves. Plus if they produce stripes I'll know the albino is het stripe and vice versa.
Bob is working on an even more advanced caging system than he currently uses. This one will have tubes that go through the wall into an outdoor area, like a snake aviary! He invited me down to check it out. He and his wife are the nicest people, so I plan to make a trip down there sometime soon.
Cool deal you got there. Sorry I missed the show, makes me want to move back to S Cal even faster.

Didn't make it out to the show. Went last year. How was it? Just wondering if you lived up in Lytle Creek. It's one of the areas I've considered doing some field herping.

I do live in Lytle Creek. I never find anything when I'm looking, except for rattlers. But I have found gophers, cal kings and rosy boas on the road. I've got one sub adult gopher I found down on the backroad that parallels I-15. That snake is doing well. The rest of them didn't make it.
You should come up here in the springtime and we'll see if we can find some herps. I've got the mountain king book, but haven't put it to use yet. An easier place to find them is up in Wrightwood from what I've gathered, but they are here. I've never seen one in my entire life though. I grew up in Claremont and used to go up to Mt. Baldy all the time. Never saw one there either. I heard some kids found one up in Sapphire above Alta Loma a couple years ago.
I use to hit Lytle creek, found a few Ca kings, lots rattlers and some gophers. Even though it was a 140 mile round trip coming from the San Fernando Valley, it was still a cool place to go herping. I would take Sierra all the way down to Lytle creek.

Yep, exit I-15 at Sierra and you're here. Hopefully I'll find time to look for mountain kings this spring. I heard it's mostly a matter of knowing when and where to look for them.
Oh yeah, the show was really cool. Not as big as NARBC Anaheim, but like I said, there were several high end breeders of kings and milks. Also lots of nice boas, pythons, many different types of geckos and other lizards, frogs and turtles. And it's all in one room, so you don't have to walk as much as at the Anaheim show.
I could have spent a lot more money if I had it. JMG Reptile had their White Out Fat Tail Geckos which are awesome and very expensive. Jeff Sr. and Jeff Jr. said that they weren't showing well though, stressed out from the road. Even stressed out they're a mighty impressive looking gecko.
I asked Bob about the Spotted Mexican Milks. He said the original breeders died, but that he's acquired some more and is working to reestablish the line. I know a few other people have them, but you don't see them very often. I forgot to ask him about the new species of Sinaloan mountain king, the Webbi that is in his latest book. I'll remember that next time I see him.
