silly question about substrait

nickm45 Jan 09, 2010 05:38 PM

keeping your soil/sand moist do you just mix it wet before you put it in and then just keep spraying top daily or so to keep lower from drying out or pour water right in when needed? also would love to see pix of red ackies and enclosures. not that it matters but cost to feed roughly.

I pour my water into my Enclosers by using a plain water bottle which goes strait to the bottom and when i see the top has become moist i stop. it works for me and my ackies love it and of course so do the plants.

Hello,
Cage humidity is something that you will have to measure and make decisions as you go. My best sealed cages it took me about a week to get the humidity ridgt in - they were to moist! And keep in mind this was just from keeping the water bowls filled and clean... Cheers- Mike S

Your best bet is to create a moist area and the monitors will utilize it if they choose to, this will keep the over all humidity of the entire cage within reason [not to wet]. To much humidity increases bacteria growth and can make the cage smell foul.
