Colorado senator mark udall

Krystal_R Jan 09, 2010 07:47 PM

These are the latest emails i have recieved from senator mark udall. Im not liking them. Sent like an hour apart. I really do not care for the second email.

Dear Krystal,

Thank you for contacting me about attempts in Congress to limit the shipment and importation of certain kinds of snakes in the United States. I appreciate that you took the time to share your specific concerns with me about this particular issue.

As you know, Senator Bill Nelson introduced legislation (S. 373) to combat the problems caused by the release of pythons into the wild, often by pet owners who decide not to care for the animals any longer. These non-native species are a threat to fragile ecosystems, such as Everglades National Park, because they have no natural predators and are killing native - and sometimes endangered - species. Coming from a state with its own invasive species problems, I appreciate the need to protect our natural resources by restricting certain actions. However, it is my hope that we can find ways to accomplish that goal while still respecting the rights of responsible pet owners. As the Senate continues to debate this legislation, you can be sure that I will keep your concerns in mind.
I will continue to listen closely to what you and other Coloradans have to say about matters before Congress, the concerns of our communities, and the issues facing Colorado and the nation. My job is not about merely supporting or opposing legislation; it is also about bridging the divide that has paralyzed our nation's politics. For more information about my positions and to learn how my office can assist you, please visit my website at www.markudall.senate.gov.

Warm regards,

Dear Krystal,

Thank you for writing with your concerns and suggestions regarding animal welfare policies. I agree that we need to encourage policies that protect animals, and I have taken many opportunities to help the welfare of animals while serving in the United States Congress.

As a member of the House of Representatives, I received a consistently good rating by the Humane Society's "Humane Scorecard," which considers key votes and other actions to protect animals in its ranking of members of Congress. I recognize the important role that animals serve in our delicate ecosystems, as well as the value in protecting species with which we share the planet.

I will continue to work hard to protect the overall welfare of animals, and I will keep your views in mind as animal related legislation is considered in the U.S. Senate.
I will continue to listen closely to what you and other Coloradans have to say about matters before Congress, the concerns of our communities, and the issues facing Colorado and the nation. Warm regards,

Mark Udall

The second response sounds like " HSUS rating " is his main concern

His rating given to him by people ,animal rights extremists who

should not be recognized or in the position of delving out

"ratings" about animal issues !

It sounds like Senator Udall needs an education about HSUS, and be brought to understand that a positive rating from them is not something to be proud of!

This is an area where we could look for allies, such as Rexano. I'm sure if Rexano (or similar anti-HSUS organizations) members from that state were to see a letter where the senator is tauting his high ranking from the HSUS, they'd jump on the bandwagon and help us flood his office with letters/emails/phone calls attempting to change his mind.

Anyone with a state seantor/representative who is pro-HSUS could consider this approach.

Just an idea, enemies of our enemies are likely allies for us.

Good luck with that mission (if you choose to accept it)!
