Another lucky save!

I'm sitting here watching the Cowboys vs. Eagles game. Got up to retrieve some more pizza from the truck and saw my female Apricot Pueblan crawling on the floor near my front door! Her tub wasn't pushed open, she crawled through the air gap on top.

That's it, the sub adult kings and milks are moving out of their Vision V35 homes back to the closed racks. After the Speckled King incident, and now this, I'm gonna put adult leopard geckos in the V35 rack and put the snakes back in their Sterilite 1756 tubs. I've got a bunch of tub dividers for those too, so maybe I can get more real estate out of this setup. Um, I had better do this right now. I'll peek at the game while I'm working.

Yeah I really didn't think she could squeeze out. That's my only complaint with those racks, the air gap has always been more than I'd like. They'll cut the spacers to your specs, but this is the first V35 I've bought and I don't feel like taking it apart. I'll just keep mostly geckos in this one.

I've already moved the Pueblan back to a smaller rack for the moment. Got a few Floridana to move now. I'm not having any more escapees dammit!

Put a ball and chain on them, that will slow'em down.....LOL!

Can you stuff some folded up fine soft window screening into the gaps?

Good idea, but I'm thinking it might be a pain in the butt. I'm already moving the smaller kings out of that rack. One of my Floridana is a musky little whore!

DMong Jan 09, 2010 11:08 PM

LOL!!, I hear ya bro!

I hate those musky little whores too!..LOL!

As far as escapes go, and it happens to us all, Jerry Kruse and Doug (snakebit) have had my favorite stories so far. I think Bluerosy had a good dishwasher story as well. Hey, that is a good post. Give your best snake escape story!!!

lytlesnake Jan 09, 2010 09:56 PM

Well, this one can't top my Speckled King story, even though I can't recall how he got out in the first place. That was human error I'm pretty sure. This one was too I guess. OK, back to work.

I thought that my story about finding my 4 foot Honduran months later in my laundry basket inside the big front pocket of my baggy army cut-offs when I went to put them on was a good one..LOL!

It shocked the crap outa me for a second to be quite honest..HAHAHAAA!!

Kings are tough! A couple weeks in the cold and getting attacked by an animal was an ordeal for my Speckled, but he's doing great. I was still looking for him every day though. I bet after a few months you were caught off guard by that Honduran to say the least!

DMong Jan 10, 2010 09:36 AM

LOL!!, yeah, caught of guard is a BIG-TIME understatement!

I think the hair stood-up on the back of my neck for a second. The last thing in the WORLD I was expecting in my shorts that morning was a huge snake!(no joke replies please!..LOL!)

DMong Jan 10, 2010 09:39 AM

Yeah Joe, it was such a shock, it "short-circuited" my brain for a split second!..LOL!
