I would jump in but I have never kept any albinos. Didn't want any until Mark and John posted those Mt. kings albinos. Thanks guys.
Yeah Joe, those were intense!

Amelanism by definition is the lack of melanin. Its the melanin that blocks light, without it it sensory overload. They dont have eyelids, and it still wouldnt be that great if they did..because they would lack melanin too. Its the reason you dont see albino cats and dogs.
Good post Jeff, but there are albino dogs, the first one I can think is albino Doberman Pinschers. They are T-pos albinos and suffer from many health problems, like bad vision, shoter life span, cancer, bad temperament.

Well I go assumption that the AKC wont legitimate such an animal. Reptile breeders dont have to report to such a governing body....good thing, lol. Of course albino dogs and cats do exist, albino HUMANS exist, but suffer from all sorts of maladies. Intentionally inbreeding to express these recessive genes is done at an expense. Reptiles are not immune from the same laws. I believe the cat breeders may have a line of anery cats too, but can you tell me if those Dobermans kennel club approval?
The Doberman Pinscher Club Of America does not endorse the albino Doberman, for years they have been trying to stop backyard breeders from breeding them. With the help of the AKC, all albino Dobermans that are registered are marked with a Z on their AKC paper designating them as albino.

Just got a female albino Cal King this year. Haven't noticed any vision problems, but she's jumpy and prone to musk just like my WC Cal girl, as evidenced by the snake poop on my hand.

Beautiful Ca king! There's nothing like a snake musking you morning, noon or at night. LOL!

A few...maybe...but if it were true that they had eye problems that affected their sight, it would stand to reason that they'd be a little edgy!
