I was at the SWHS all the time. But I moved to Hawaii from 1980-1985 and then returned in 1986. Then i attended until 1992. After that i moved to Georgia with 300 rosy boas. I also attended the long beach herp society (forget the exact name?) Did you know Ralph Crouch? Sterling nelson??
I also did a lot of field herping . Mostly for desert boas. I was neck and neck with the late Brendon McGraw in disovering new locales. Used to bump into him in some of the most remote places during late night cruising in dark isolated cyns.. I also helped introduce rosy boas to the rosy king of today- Jerry Hartly.
I think he even has a story about me on his website.
Back in the 70's I hung out with Phillip Large, Jeff sometingorrather and some otgher guys from my Jr. high school (Paul Revere Jr High). We used to hike the coverence center in the pacific Palisades quite a bit and we found z's in Mandyville cyn road across the street from the jr High school as well.
.
Knew the Coverence center quite well. Always to a napsack with a picnic lunch our moms made for us. We RULLED back then!
My favorite place to hang out in the 70's was Western Zoological herpetological Supply in Monrovia, Calif. That and at lloyds house in Fullerton.
You must have known Scott Selsted and his blond headed sidekick (forget his name at the momemt as well) who collected z's around Mullholland. That guy was the first to bring in algama. Man those were beautiful when i first laid eyes on them things.
I did a lot of pioneer type field collecting in mexico and guatemala in the early 80's. We flew down to mexico city and took a bus to Puerto Escocondido and Guatemala but never brought anything back. i was mainly down there with surfing buddies and to raise hell. So most of my finds were in a tequila/gold stumper.
here is a pic while i was pulled over by the cops while doing over 100 miles per hour on the way to the north shore with surfboards strapped ontop of the car.. We were in a hurry to catch some early morning big surf. He let us off because he realized he was dealing with the real life Jeff Spicoli. My idiot friend in the back seat thought it fun to get a pic of me getting arrested.
Ohh good times.

That is so cool! I'm sure we met as I was going there since 79 to 98. Those names sound real familiar, I would most likely know them if I saw them. That was a cool place hang at Reseda Park, even if was just once a month on the third Tuesday. There were some cool people that went there, I met Ronald Markel there a few times, very cool guy. Do you remember Harold De Lisle? That guy was pretty flacky, went on a field trip with him and other herpers, he was always trying to get other people herps that they cought. Talking about being bogus! did you know a guy named Mike Levine? We used hang togeather and go heping and skateboarding. Yeah man, those were the good days by all means. Your story cracks me up, that's just too funny and cool!
