Day Photocontroller Review

yakob Jan 11, 2010 02:11 PM

Just purchased one of these. So far, it is great. Sensitivity is good. Seems to turn on and off within five minutes of sunrise and sunset. Today it is rainy and cloudy and due to the low light it took about 20-30 minutes after sunrise to turn on. Not bad. I also have it temporaly in a north facing window. I am guessing if I move it to a South facing window it would work a little better. I think I am going to get a couple more. For us Northerners, it is quite the convenience to not have to rely on timers. Not much else to say. Will update if there is any issues. Wormsway is a greenhouse website, and by the looks of it might get some more of my money. Lot's of goodies for potentially setting up quite the automated system.

Not a bad item to have around as a back up for if the power goes out and the timers become out of synchronization, but the timers provide a longer photo period. Nice to have it a bit closer to what the photo period is where these animals live, plus then their is more hours to interact with them.

Wow very nice rhinos, are thouse your´s? Is there were you keep them during the winter? How do you avoid them from becoming territorial with each other?

Thanks, that was the winter enclosure. By having multiple hiding, basking and feeding locations and plenty of space, territorialism was a minimal problem with females, but had to be closely monitored with males.
