Sweet, nice snakes. One question, what is that yellow albino thingy??

Please don't talk about snake prices when my wife is around!!
Thanks, but.....
Your joking right?
Where have ya been?.....LOL
I will call it a Yella Amel Spec.....
I purchased it from Mike Madec at Isis Reptiles as an amel Holbrooki.....There was so much debate over this animal that I am not going to advertise it as a Holbrooki although I and a few others think it is.....
It was born in a clutch of 6....All looked like normal White And Yellow patterned hatchling holbrooki.....
Two of them.....The white turned yellow much in the same way that some Amel Tricolors do......
She is going to be bred to a high yellow Speckled king my buddy Todd has......

MBK's are next on my list forspecies to work with, after I start breeding what I have. They're awesome snakes.

This is another great bunch, John. Those anery/axanth splendida are awesome! I've been eyeing some on Don Shores site for a while now.... I really want to make some "ghost" splendida someday.
I'd consider some specks if the laws on native species here weren't so arcane. I do have a nice pair of MBKs. The female is a replacement for one that got eaten last season. She won't be ready until 2011 though.

John, are those axanthic splendida from Don?
Is the axanthic a simple recessive?
Are they also anerythristic?
Sorry for all the questions, but it's getting important to me. Thanks a bunch...

Yes the Axanthic Splendida was produced by Don Shores.
It is not just a "look" it is a simple recessive trait like Amelanism.
They are not also anerythritic....Anerythristic is usually associated with the absence of red pigment not just yellow as with most common kings, excluding Southeast & Eastern Getula.
It is lacking yellow pigment so it is Axanthic.
I am breeding her to an amelanistic male this year in hopes of producing some double hets for "snow" if they breed successfully and she lays viable eggs.......and I get them to hatch...lol
The babies will be yellow and black like most wild splendida.....

John, what color would the pattern be on this snow? pink/purple, none?

Ask Don to show you his snow Splendida.....
It is white on white...You can see white crossbars on the dorsum of a white snake...
Kinda like seeing a yellow pattern on the yellow amel speck I have.......
Then there's still a ghost Splendida that hasn't been hatched yet.....I think they will be brown and white.....We shall see....I bet Don produces one this year....

Ghosts are double homozygot hypo and axanthic....
I know Brad had some double het for "hybino" or "sunglow" from his amel and hypo adults this year......
Which I don't see why you would try to produce something with reduced black and no black at the same time.......I think it would just look like an amel......
And I didn't know that he had an adult hypo and an adult axanthic produce double het offspring two or more years ago to possibly produce Ghosts this year.......

Thanks, John.
I knew there were some mutations going around with the splendida, but I didn't realize the extent. I don't usually work with any snakes that have the mutations. I think breeders usually call them morphs. I'm mostly interested in localities of certain species, one being getula splendida. The thing that really caught my attention with Doug M's axanthic is that it was supposed to be a locality snake. I probably wouldn't have been so interested if it hadn't.
I think I see the situation a lot differently now. Also I'm curious to see if anyone else will see the axanthic splendies as locality snakes. Good luck with your projects...
