Weathered the Storm

We are fine. No major damage, just some inconveniences.

I wanted to let you in on a funny story, though.

Our pens are all outdoors, and by the time we got home from work at 1:30, the wind was CRANKING and rocking my truck around on the highway. Inside the house, I peaked out the window and in the 50 mph winds and pouring rain, I was looking to see that the upended buckets and sandbags protecting my new saplings were still in place.
All was well, and they were fine. Then I noticed something odd. Dirk (our really big male eastern box) was up on a mound of grassy dirt, kind of a gnoll built for him, surveying his domain like a lion on a cliff-top. It was hilarious, he was just posed up there looking around so regally.
I snapped some photos, but they were from inside (torrential rain bad for camera). If they come out, I'll post them.
I went outside to have a look around then, and many of the turtles were up and active. Seems as though it was a good time for a hunt, I guess.

Cool story - actually a little jeolous you get some interesting weather there - CA is pretty boring, weather wise.

We lost power Thursday at about 4pm and just got it back at about 6pm. today (Monday).
We ended up bringing our turtles inside for the night because of potential tree damage to either turtles or their enclosure: they were actually enjoying the weather and were marching aroung hunting, etc. They stayed in cardboard boxes with some mulch inside in the dining-room, and went back out first thing in the morning.
An elm split on our property and half of it sort of leaned over onto our house but no serious damage was done. Other neighborhoods close by took much more damage, so we feel pretty lucky.
All in all quite an exciting experience...
