If you are worried about humidity, I would have one hide box with the damp moss and one or two hides without. That way the snake can decide which one it prefers/needs.
The question is... is sphagnum moss good to use, or should I be using something else?
Sphagnum moss is just fine. Just maintain it and check it like the rest of your bedding and make sure the snake has a warm dry place, as well as a warm moist place to rest.
