Do GE "plant and aquarium" florescent tubes give off UV? Do mercury vapor bulbs?

plant and aquarium tubes no good uv for reptiles and reptile mercury vapor bulbs give off good source of uv....

The GE bulbs give off some UVA but very low levels of UVB. Some reptiles visible spectrum extends into the UVA range and these spectra are thought to possibly stimulate activity in these species.

Mercury vapor bulbs produce much higher levels of both UVA and UVB than any fluorescent that I'm aware of.

Mercury vapor could very well be overkill for some species and possibly cause retina damage. I would not use them for certain species. They are great in many cases, though.
