Brumation Reset Feeding Response

pyromaniac Jan 12, 2010 07:44 PM

My baby bulls (hatched early May 09) were in brumation for 56 days. I am happy to report they have both eaten twice since coming out of brumation last week. Appetites back with a vengeance; mission accomplished!

I am giving them summer day lengths and have raised their habitat warm hide temperature making sure to avoid fluctuations, as jcherry had suggested. They could eat more but I am giving them meals slowly graduating in size so as to not shock their systems.

I love these little dudes and want to do everything I can to see that they have a long and healthy life. I am very grateful for the expert help I have gotten at this forum. Thank you, all.

They look at me after eating like Is that all we get!?

Nice to hear that! I have a hold back brother to your pair that has never let up eating at all. A lady purchased a pair of these from me also and said they quit eating in October. (she put them in hibernation as well)Good to see they ar edoing well! Rich

Wait a minute! I thought I recognized the hide box. Only G.B.O.F. and Alfonzo have one like that! Rich

Yep, that's them! Alfonzo is as tame as ever, and Zoey has mellowed out considerably, being relaxed when I pick her up to put her in the feeding container, ect. Not even a tail buzz anymore.

Rich, if you are going to have any not too closely related babies this year I am going to be interested.
