Hi

The smell is not bad. I think you are confusing the humidity that Ackies require and poo with the humidity of a sauna and poo. Keep in mine most of the visable areas of your cage (where the poo is) should be on the dry side, say ranges from 0 to 40 or so, nothing scientific, but a simple range. Only in burrows or their favorate crevices should the humidity go higher, the upper spectrum of the humidity levels, again not specific numbers, but a range.

Goodluck, Ackies are a blast.

Mike.

do not use any air "fresheners" anywhere near your pets.
MANY contain formaldehyde and other nasties.
Notice they never seem to list the ingredients on them ?
Cheers

The dirt smells like fresh, clean dirt when you first put it in, and fades after about a week.

The poop smells like poop yes. Poop in the water stinks worse. Keep your cage and your water clean and your cage will naturally smell like dirt. If you're the outdoorsy type, it'll be better than an air freshener.
