BUMMER!!

draybar Jan 16, 2010 08:44 PM

The thermostat on one of my racks malfunctioned and I had six female hatchlings basically cooked in their tubs.

I lost my new female motley lavender
two female motleys possibly het lavender
two stripe cream females and
my only motley cinnamon hatchling. I hadn't even photographed this one yet.
This rack contained my problem feeders. I laways place problem feeders in a separate rack. makes things much easier to keep up with.
They had all started out slow but were doing great, growing and catching up with all the other hatchlings.
Hell, the two motleys poss het lavender
Went to feed them today and as soon as I pulled the first tray I felt the heat and knew I was in trouble.
I would have normally fed them on Friday but had some other things to do last night and didn't get to them until today.
If I would have checked them last night I think I might have caught it in time.

Ahhh Jimmy, sorry for the loss. It happens. I have a buddy that uses double thermos for that reason alone. I think the Johnston thermo has a cut off switch if the temps get too high.

.I didn't finish this sentence
>>Hell, the two motleys possibly het lavender fed on the second and third feeding attempts after arrival, respectively. They really wouldn't even be considered "problem" feeders.

The motley lavender took a little longer to get going but she was doing great as were the stripe creams. The one I had the most trouble with was the motley cinnamon but she had eaten three times on her own and was on her way!!!!

not yet anyway
I got the motley lavender and motleys possibly het lavender with a male motley lavender and male lavender to start a breeding project so that's basically screwed.
I got them in a trade and they were definitely great specimens.
They had only eaten live before I got them. The two motleys converted to f/t almost immediately and the lavender motley only took about five attempts to get converted. They were doing great.

The two stripe creams were ones that I hatched and had to be force fed for almost three months before I got them eating and the motley cinnamon took from August until three weeks ago to start eating on her own.

I lost a plasma het hypo female in brumation. And then the next day found out my 18 month old holdback variable king female had escaped out of her new rack bin I just moved her into.

Dang big man... That definantly sucks.. Been there myself.. We had that happen with 4 from a project started in 08.. *slaps forehead* Depressing isn't it..

If I didn't have such a cruddy year for selling the 09 breeders, I may have headed into the direction I think you intended to go..

Regards.. Tim of T and J
