OT - A riddle for Smeagol

tcdrover Jan 17, 2010 08:04 AM

What has no legs, scales, lives on the ground and can blink?

Just found this guy while I was cleaning up my yard this morning.
I'm not sure what killed him. My dog definitely didn't do it.
It's not cold anymore, but that might have been the cause.
I remember as a kid we used to catch these in malaluka forests,
which of course are non-native and ALL OVER the place.
They are native to FL. The coloring is pretty interesting, and
the position of the cloaca...

Hey, man!
I live in FL and have those things in my yard. Those are legless lizards, right?
Any particular type?
Also-liked the Gollum reference!

They're called Glass Lizards.

I guess they're in my yard too. I hadn't seen one before today.
My dog would kill 'em and eat 'em pretty quick if she got her
chance. I'm very close to the everglades. I'm right off I75.

Their tails can drop off just like lizards, but in multiple
pieces.
