Dimensions for the shelters and few other questions

Tim L. Sep 19, 2003 03:17 PM

What are the minimum dimensions (width, length, and height in inches) of a shelter for one adult leopard gecko (if I'm using a box)? Also, am I supposed to have moist soil in the shelter, or can I just keep it moist inside, even though I have only paper towels for substrate?

I'm not sure if there is a minimum, but the smallest I would ever use for an adult is one of those medium-sized butter containers. I use 8 oz. soup containers from the restaurant I work at, which are about the same size.

I've also used paper towels before for the humid hide, and even though my leos would still use it, they always seemed to prefer the one that had sphagnum peat moss. You can buy a huge bag of it at Home Depot for less than $3.00 and it will last you forever.
