A smile on my face.

Had a cousin and his wife stop by for an overnight visit last night. He was ok with snakes. His wife was pretty fearful of them. After visiting for a little while with them and fielding questions from each about our hobby I was asked if I was going to get one out. I decided on my most tame jungle carpet..."Evil". She really is mild mannered and took to being handled very well. I talked some about where jungles come from and their natural behavior and activities. My cousin even held her for a while. My wife and I had to move her and her companion to different caging to do make some changes to their habitat. My cousin wanted to hold another. Our smallest ball python became the star of the show. He is about two years old and about two feet long. My cousin sat on the couch and handled him for over an hour. His wife even sat beside him after some trepidation and then eventually petted and touched E.T.(named for having several different head views of E.T.) She stated that it was a huge thing for her to be around snakes, let alone touching one. My cousin has since let her talk him out of getting a ferret and into getting a herp. Most likely a ball python. I informed him of the research and information needed before making a purchase, and gave him some information about where and how to seek more knowledge. I'm proud to be able to say that I turned their visit into a positive one with respect to herps, and owe it all to one little ball python named E.T.

Great story! It's one thing to get her to feel comfortable enough to be around and touch a snake, but you (and your snakes) must have made quite an impression if she is now seriously considering allowing him to actually purchase one as a pet! Awesome job - I'm impressed!

Stay United!

"...I say 'apparently' because despite all our progress she is not at all a tame or handle-able snake and gettting her from that cage would re-start a war.. and we've had a good armistice for several months now."-Gus Rentfro - I love this quote!
