DO NOT REALES ANY HERPS

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Jan 18, 2010 08:06 AM

for any reason. I want to go on record as being opposed to this as it could damage our already fragile ecosytems as well as put more pressure on the Herp Industry....

The problem is not releases. I honestly do not think releases are a problem at all, especially in the everglades. Maybe in suburban area one or two escape but noone intentionally releasing in "droves" as described. Oneme and you KNOW its a goot 45 minute drive to the epi-center for 99% ofthe population here.
Out of 157 burmese caught, 153 were related. The other 4 remainder ones were related unto themselves. There is also research that shows that they are almost positive they originated from a (dont recall exact name) Bill Blackwood? whom owned a roadside zoo on tamiami trail, and that he even reported after andrew that he lost his group of burmese. No one did anything about it.
Now they want to do something about it.

Tom isn't referencing any specific species

Especially Not Burmese I believe . . . .

He's talking in general at this point

Not about any specific release of species

just in general

Don't release CB Reptiles into the wild

JUST DON"T DO IT !!

I'm NOT suggesting anyone has turned anything loose but was asked to post this which I have done. There have been veiled threats and I'm asking that NO ONE EVEN RELEASE A NON-NATIVE ANOLE. I'm only posting what I was asked to post and as I have stated am in total agreement. We must go to even greater lengths than we already do to ensure we have NO escapes of any kind. I'm guessing this Anaconda was a deliberate release and NOT by anyone in the Industry....This was the intent of the post....

I find the whole capturing of that Anaconda last week rather suspect and fishy... really seems almost planted there...

Mike you are correct..At the time of Andrew they had Baboons and other primates running around down here. They were NOT interested in reptiles...

I do not think that releases are the problem either...the problem is that the govt. is being dupped into believing that it is the problem.

The problem with released animals is it gives the animal rights wackos ammunition to take away our rights to keep certain animals. The animal rights wackos are the problem. They push their extreme agenda under the false pretense of protecting the environment. They know the truth just as well as we do, but they get what they get in terms of any support they have ever had only through deception. They care not a wit about the truth. All these people live for, just like a religion to a really religious person, is to take from us our rights to keep animals. Period. All animals.

All the politicians are about is getting elected and re-elected. So the two things they listen to are the masses, assuming the masses ever speak, and people or organization that give them bribes, I mean donations to fund their elections. The exceptions to this are the politicians that care about the preservation of freedom and the true believers in the animal rights wackos agenda.

This is NOT about winning any logical argument. We have done that handily. Most of the time it's easy to prove the truth and we are standing with the truth.

you're absolutely right.

We're playing a numbers game. In fact, it's a numbers vs numbers game, and not in the way most might think. It's not numbers of people on one side vs numbers of people on the other.

It's the number of dollars on the HSUS side vs our numbers of people. Want proof? Look at HR669. It DIED because 50,000 letters showed up to oppose it! ALL the money in the world couldn't have pushed that through- well, maybe not all the money in the world... but a LOT of money was donated to push that bill through, and it failed because of our numbers!

This should be evidence enough that EVERY SINGLE PERSON COUNTS! We can't reach these numbers without EVERY person chiming in to oppose these bills. Organizational affiliation means nothing. I don't care if you're a member of USARK, NatPet, PIJAC, REXANO, etc, or no organization at all! The only thing that matters is people doing the work.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONE ANYTHING, AND EVERYTHING THEY CAN! Your efforts mean SO MUCH to this fight. You all are appreciated and you've all made a difference!
