Seeking bigger cages for the family
They(DNR,some selected experts, and some Gov. officials) had a meeting in December regarding this. Senator Douglas is behind it, and from what I have been told he's about the only one. DNR is not for it neither was the majority of the people at the meeting. It hasn't gotten any press, and from what I can tell, they're trying to back door this and make it a law before anyone knows what's happening. Sounds to me like Sen. Douglas shouldn't be reelected.(17th Dist.) This is actually a revision of what he wanted. He was wanting to add them into the law of dangerous animals, where you have to have insurance, seperate building, permission from local government, and what not like venemous snakes. I'm not sure what code 27-5-5 is exactly but I'm about to look it up.

What is the best way to prevent them from back-dooring this law into effect?
This is ridiculous.. I'm sure they just want the $$$ from the permits..

Anyone else from Georgia? If so contact me, lets see what we can do to stop this!
I have written a letter to Gov. Purdue. I found out about this in Dec., from a couple of friends who went to the meeting. They had a meeting in Dec., and Sen. Douglas was originally wanting to eliminate ownership of pythons and boas. So there was a small victory that day, in regards to the current proposal. DNR is against this bill in any form from what I've been told. It would seem that Sen. Douglas has an agenda, and appealing to him is probably useless. I am goin to contact other members of our house and let them know how I feel about this. PIJAC has also been made aware of this. The more people that are heard the better, but in all honesty it doesn't look good. I think they are going to push this through in some form or another. If we can stop it, though, I think it will be a big step in saving the hobby in Ga. I don't like the direction this is going, because it seems as though monitors, and other snakes may follow if this goes through.
