Offering other foods

alreynolds2003 Sep 19, 2003 03:45 PM

I am wondering the different ways I can offer vegetation to my veild... So far all I have tried is hanging leaves of bok-choy from the top of the cage where he spends most of his time basking. I did it for two days and he did not eat any of it. Any other ideas for offering? Is there any food that a veild will almost always go after. I know most vary in what veggies and fruits they eat, but is there something that almost all cannot resist. Maybe I should start out with that food first?

I don't keep veilds, but I've heard that they love hibiscus flowers. If you have a hibiscus without chemicals on it, try giving it a big flower next time! Hope this helps, Good luck!

Try hand feeding them. We hand feed ours their worms, so they are used to eating from us. They don't tend to see or notice food, unless it is moving. So, when you offer fruits and veggies, try rolling it in your fingers a bit. If they see it moving, it may spark an interest.
