Will the MASS senate result effect...

Markus Jayne Jan 19, 2010 07:32 PM

Will the MASS senate result effect the vote on the proposed ban? I'm not really up on US politics but if the Republicans win the seat the Dems will not have a majority in the senate anymore. From what I understand the Republicans are against the proposed bill. If anyone could shed light on this I would appreciate it.

As a Canadian I am hoping this is good news for all my American friends!

Scott Brown just won the Senate race here in Massachusetts. For the first time in my life, i'm actually glad a Republican won. We'll see what happens next, in regards to S-373.

Dems still have a solid majority-the only thing they lost was a fillibuster-proof majority. And it's highly unlikely (to say the least) that the Republicans will feel SO strongly about the plight of a few snake people that they'll use the only weapon they have-the fillibuster-to protect us. It's a very blunt instrument that they will save for what they consider the "line in the sand" issues.
