hi,
while in the garden yesterday i noticed a bunch of black caterpillar things with orange striped on the dill. I was wondering if this is safe to feed my cham. We use no pesticides or fertilizers except manure. thanks.

I wouldn't. Bright colors are usualy a sign of being toxic. If you want to feed 'pillars, try silkies or hornworms. Hope this helps!

If they were on dill they were probably swallowtail. Anytime you see black with orange or red it means toxicity (or a mimic). Either what the cat(erpillar) eats is toxic or it has some sort of toxic defense mechanism.
I can't stress enough the importance of identifying ANY insect before feeding it to ANY herp. You are smart to ask before risking it.

p.s. they aren't worms, but caterpillars
