ovulations anyone???

magicalmorphs Jan 21, 2010 07:42 PM

I started lowering my temps on Nov. 1st and started introducing the males on Dec. 1st. Ive seen bowl wrapping and typical cooling behavior, but no ovulations yet. Just wanted to see if anyone around Texas (or anywhere) has started getting ovulations yet? I'm really excited about this year I just had 2 lay last year and lost all eggs due to an incubator problem in the last few days of incubation. I cut anyway and saw perfectly colored kinked babies with hardened yolks. It was hard to go a whole year without seeing pipping heads so now I'm just antsy!!!!!!!!

I started intros in mid October, and saw my first two ovulations today. Two down and a few dozen to go!

Congrats....I'm sure you'll have several others following suit. You always have a bunch of cool stuff. I'm hoping for BEL's for the first time this year. My female is an 06 mojave and 2000g. This will be her first year to go. She went on a hunger strike last year right before breeding season just to piss me off!!

But I have eggs due to be laid next week, two females approaching ovulation, and a few more that have bred steadily and I'm waiting to see signs of building.

Where are you located? Wow you have a lot of projects going on there!!!! Good Luck with them!!

I'm in New Jersey, and I've been getting lockups since late September. I don't have as many projects going as I'd like, but it's enough to keep my busy come hatching time

I think I'll bump it up a month next year. I would prefer to have early babies and give them a chance to put some weight on before they're shipped off, or if I plan on keeping them it could help them get to size a season earlier. Of course ultimately it's up to the female !!!!!!
