Georgia Update

SgtStinky Jan 23, 2010 06:03 AM

Georgia SB 303 is now in committee. The bottom line is if this thing goes through we will have to pay a licensing fee of $236 once a year (for a collection, not per snake) and microchip any of the listed pythons that obtain a girth of greater than 2 inches.

Anyone have a bad experience with microchips?

If you are from Georgia please contact me.

I microchipped my Burm a year-year and half ago and everything is fine.

I feel your pain...FL has a similar permitting system.

There's a reptile expo in Atlanta this weekend, Jan 30 - 31. I suggest contacting the show promoter to see about passing out flyers to each person attending. They may already have something like that in the works.

Contact me if you have trouble contacting the show promoter. Have you contacted USARK on this? I would.

Whatever you do, don't sit back thinkin' that someone else will do it. We need more people to take action, lead the way.

Best wishes!

The Sportsmen's & Animal Owners' Voting Alliance has posted an alert on GA SB 303, the Python Regulation and Licensing bill. The link has information on the bill and what it is going to mean if it is passed! Halfway down the page there is a "click here" to send every Senator on the committee your thoughts. Please be respectful.

Thanks
