Help identifying boa!

t0neg0d Jan 26, 2010 11:11 AM

Hi and thanks in advance for all your help!

I picked up a new boa a while back and have been trying to identifying her locale with little luck. She is 5 yrs old and topped out at 6' exactly. Her head shape and markings slightly resemble an Argentine (head shape--stubby snout--more than markings). The part that really has me stumped is the banding on her belly... it is a solid salmon color outlined by steel grey. She was sold to me as a Mexican boa, but she looks NOTHING like the other Mexican I have. Anyways, perhaps someone will be able to figure it out from the pics. They obviously do not relay exactly how stunning she is in person, but none the less... they hopefully will help someone figure her out. =)

It looks more like a Mexican boa than occidentalis..... just doesnt have the morphology for an argentine....

Tarahumara mountain maybe?

Without any info we are doing simply that!Guesing! To give that animal a pure locality title isn't fair to the animals with actually locality info. I would just chalk that animal up to unidentifable BCI for lack of info. Nice animal though and it does resemble a Tarahumara, but couldn't honestly say.

My wife and I work with retics as breeder, this boa will always be a pet. =) I was just interested in knowing what she is, so when people are over I can say "More than likely, she is... blah skippy wham.", which gives them an idea as to what to look for if interested in buying one (which seems to happen more than not with her). I would never offer her up for sale stating that she was something that wasn't 100% verifiable. But, then again, I would never offer her up for sale!

Thanks for taking a look and giving me educated guesses, though!

Well you won't ever be positive of what she is , but when I originally clicked on this thread , I skipped the words and said to myself - based on the pics- Mexican . It looks like a classic Mexican to me .
