Want to know how NY views reptile owners

jason Jan 27, 2010 04:56 AM

A little while back, someone posted info about NY wanting to ammend their already ridiculous herp laws, making tighter restrictions and changing the offense to a class E felony.

So, in the eyes of NY, if you own a burmese python, you are equally as guilty of wrong doing as some of these other class E crimes:

The Prison Term would be a sentencing, lasting more than one year.

Wow. Sooo.... if you're a heroin addicted, child molesting, dealer with a gun who is afraid of snakes, you're guaranteed to have one less charge under your belt!

THAT is F'ed up!

Because EVERYBODY with a boa or python is going to use their snake with intent to maim or kill. ("GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY! I HAVE A PYTHON AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!"

Because breeding a boa or python is the same as having a meth lab-which are explosive. Your snake is now equivelent to a toxic-fume-inducing lab. ("Duuude, do NOT inhale the Boa!"

Because your children are DEFINITELY in danger when your snake is closer than 300 feet, because they get that big. ("King Kong has NOTHING on that snake!"

That is just ABSOLUTELY ridiculous! I wish these people could hear themselves speak!

See The thing I've noticed is that as long as you keep these animals locked up in a secured cage and never take it outside you could keep them as pets as long as you don't show them off to anybody or as long as they don't escape and that is what the rest of the country should do, but no they don't, they put them in a non secured cage and they get lost or when their drunk and high they show them off and they get attacked and killed cause snakes don't like the smell of beer and pot, so now you got ridulecus laws like the ones in NY and the new ones that are trying to change in America. People got to be more responsible with the ownership of these masive animals and know how to handle them and also handle them and if they can't than give them up to a breeder or somebody who know how to and never let them lose in the wild cause that resaults in everybody who owns a reptile getting screwed royally now.
