Cold killed 100 crocodiles in Florida

Upscale Jan 28, 2010 07:42 AM

There have been nearly 100 dead crocodiles found by researchers due to the recent cold snap. These are South American crocodiles at the extreme northern edge of their range in extreme south Florida. They can obviously not survive any further north, or they would expand their range here. Tropical pythons can not either.

There are AMERICAN crocodiles in south florida.

This is their natural habitat. They are not from south america.
They're smaller than the crocodiles in venezuela.

They do not have a 'range' that spans from south america to
florida.
