Just a quick question for you all, my wife put a deodorizer in the snakeroom, the kind you plug in the elec. outlet. It's cinnamon, makes the room smell nice but, I was wondering if it's safe for the snakes?

Since I don't know what brand you have am assuming all these scented plug-ins are similar.
I think this brings up an important topic which isn't often discussed here. I happen to live in my snake room and even though I'm compelled to clean up quickly after defecations, it can get funky and just recently I was having a very mild allergic reaction to airborne funk.
So, I went online and looked for ionizing are purifiers. I found some "Ionic Aire" models at Target which looked like a good, silent solution but when I got there all they had where fan/filter based jobs (some with an ionizer option?). Anyway, reluctantly I decided to try one of the fan jobs for around $80. I left the noisy thing on high and after about 20 hours I could no longer detect any funk and my allergic reaction subsided. I now turn it on intermittently if things are getting stuffy and so far I'm more or less happy with it. BUT, it is noisy and probably hikes up my energy bill significantly.
I'd like to know more about the efficacy of the silent ionizers from anyone using them.
As for the thing you're using...I might suppose it would irritate your animals, but then a constant feces funk might be even worse for all I knonw. It seems to me that snakes like to get away from there mess, probably cause, in wild situations, it would tip-off predators.
Hope to here more opinions on this.
I would not use those scented air freshners-some people dont do so hot with those things. My wife used them in our old house but I would not have them upstairs near the snake room.
I also have some of my snakes living in the room with me. I always pick up any mess so I can sleep better, my room does not get stuffy but I do have stuffy/itchy nose when cleaning up after the snakes. So, I have been looking at air purifiers as well but have personally never used any brand or type. The person who I think would know more about this is Tom Stevens.
I use a glad plugin in my snake room, and it causes no apparent problems. I have used it for 2 years with my snakes. I also grow my 120 orchid collection with 3 or so other plants in there with 12 tarantulas, and I have seen no problems with the spiders either. This could be due to the plants purifying the air and the 4 constantly running fans that are used for air circulation for the orchids. The plug in does nulify the effects of the snake odors.
