Can all of you leo keepers introduce yourselves?

Tim L. Sep 19, 2003 09:19 PM

I think it's about a time where we get to introduce all of ourselves, so that we can recognize and know each other better. Anyway, my name's Tim Lee. I'm in 10th grade, 16 years old, and I live in Eugene, OR. I currently have 2 green anoles, 1 european mantis, 1 long-haired teddy bear hamster, and a 10 gallon tank full of small tropical fish. I'll get leos ASAP. I used to have 5 western fence lizards, 3 garter snakes, katydids, black-clawed crabs, sparrows, variety of grasshoppers, long-horned beetles, cicadas, pond skaters, water scorpions, minnows, more mantids, variety of dragonflies, salamander larvaes, a pair of rough-skinned newts, colony of ants, one pacific northwestern frog, variety of treefrogs, snails, and so on (lots of insects ). I also enjoy reading classical novels, birding, playing my violin, studying about the world's wildlife, conservation, etc (my goal's to be a zoologist or an ornithologist). I also play tennis often as I can, and I enjoy jogging.

So, enough about me. Can all of you guys introduce yourselves, and explain what else you do in your freetime (besides working with your leo)?

Tim

Hello! My name is Paul, I live in Sacramento California. Yes, that California. Ha ha. Wait until YOUR recall election... I am 25 years old, and I have been keeping reptile since I was 10. My first was a Argentine Horned Frog, (pacman frog). My mom thought it would be a good pet since I wanted a Monitor. Boy was she surprised to find out that the little frog ate crickets, goldfish, and eventually mice and small rats. That led to an assortment of snakes, including Texas Rat Snakes, a Burmese Python, and a White-Lipped Python. During my high school years, I focused mainly on tropical fish, including a 150 gallon saltwater tank, which housed 2 groupers and a triggerfish. But as soon as I moved out of the house, I became the zookeeper again. I currently live in a one bedroom apartment which I share with my beautiful girlfriend Angie, 3 Uromastyx, 1 Bearded Dragon, 2 African Fat Tailed Geckos, 2 fish, and numerous spiders and insects. I need to get myself motivated to go to school and become a science teacher or something, because I know I'm always going to have exotic pets. This is fun.

Yeah that's me, but I'm 21, went to school for 2 and a half years in Monterey, Ca. Ran out of money, moved back home to Napa, Ca. Now I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my gorgeous girlfriend Autumn. I am trying to save up more money to go back to school, but it's taking a while, even with 2 jobs. Ah well... that's the price you pay for living in Napa. a decent sized 1-bedroom apartment for $800 a month. *sigh* Well y'all have a good one.

Kev

P.S.
This sucks, you need money to go to college, but you need a job to get money, but you need college to get a job.... yeah... this isn't going to be tough... (sucks for those of us that come from such a nice financial background that we don't qualify for financial aid)

When not at school, I pay the bills working at Best Buy. When not at school or work, I am usually spending time with my awesome girlfriend(of 2 years), Natalie(who also enjoys playin' with my leos. My name is Amy Reynolds, i'm 16 and a junior in high school living in Anchorage, AK. I currently have all the animals listed in my signature except the female snow who passed away recently

I have owned many reptiles since i was 6. My first were 2 brown anoles. After that i had frogs, lizards, snapping tutles and newts. I also kept various insects w/ my favorite being my pet black widow, charlotte. My first snake was a northern redbelly snake, from then on i was hooked. I had a great plains garter and then a brown snake but finally settled on captive bred corn snakes. I didn't get into leos until i bought my male(pic above) from petco(stupid i know) now i have 1.1*i think* the female is definate but now i'm beginning to think my male is really a she LOL

I enjoy reading science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, suspense....basically anything but romance LOL. I love fishing and herping, and i'm going to start hunting this winter. I plan to go to college to become a vetrinarian, specializing in surgery, herpetology, or large animals. In my free time i care for my herps and right now i'm trying to find a job LOL

OK, I feel old. I'm 32, a social worker applying to go back to school & get my masters & Ph.D. in Psychology (hope I get in, fingers crossed). I'm married, 9 years now. We have 2 cats, Gus & Mena, 5 fire belly newts, Isaac Newton, Fig Newton, Wayne Newton, Olivia Newton-John & Juice Newton, an albino pacman frog, Buffy the cricket slayer, a dwarf pixie frog, Butrose Butrose Froggy, & 2 lovely leo girls, Geo & Tang Tang. I've always loved reptiles & amphibians (& pretty much any animal I see) & have had newts for at least 16 years. When I was a kid, I kept toads I found in the yard & fed them hand-caught bugs. I just got my first leo, Geo, about 4 months ago, along with a cage mate who got sick within days of purchase & died after 3 weeks of love & treatment (& about $150 later!). Then I got Tang Tang, who turned up w/ parasites shortly after I got her, but who is thriving now. My name is Robin

I'm 34 Robin so don't feel bad. Hey all my name is Tim. I have kept geckos for 3 years, but only caught the breeding bug this last year.
I am in the military (US Army Rangers)I have been to such memorable spots as Panama, Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan(should have picked up some leos there) Currently I reside in Florida as an instrutor in the Swamp Phase of the Army's Ranger School. What a great place for a Herp lover, I catch snakes on a daily basis, from Kings to Diamondbacks. Lizards everywere, Frogs and Toads abound, and if all that bores you, come on down and go Gator Wrestling with me .
I am a father of 3 boys; Johnny, Matt, and Tommy. My wife and I have decided that we want to go into business raising Leos. Right now we are looking to get a grant to get started, so if anyone has any knowledge in this area I would welcome the information.
Also all you seasoned Breeders, don't be shy about dropping me a line, all your learned knowledge is most welcome.
Love this forum and look forward to getting to know a lot of you in the future.

I'm in the Ft Walton Beach area. They have 300 Rangers hidden in a remote camp in the wilds of Eglin AFB. I'm not kiddin, it is at least 20 miles in every direction to civilization. Oh in addition to world travel, I skydive, SCUBA, Train in Martial Arts (used to teach) and for the next few months I will be teaching a Urban Warfare/Sniper course to 19th and 20th Special Forces personnel. I'm an avid book reader, and of course you would be hard pressed to find an animal I don't love.

Take cre all,

Ah, I forgot where Ft. Walton is near... I don't think I've ever been, but I'll check a map in a second.

Anyway, gosh, all that is so awesome. Where do you skydive? I used to know a bunch of people at this skydive place in Homestead, Florida, although I never skydived. I've never SCUBA-ed, either, which is entirely pathetic where I live. Especially considering what ocean people my family is.

What Martial Art did you teach in? I took Kenpo for about 5 years and am going to start again as soon as I can pay for it. It's not fully Kenpo, though, because they started incorporating other kinds of Martial Arts into these schools.

Well, nice to meet you! If I can get a Florida herp meeting together, would you be interested in it? I'm trying to get a small group for Tampa in November, during the show.

I own 1.2 leos, and I'm waiting for three eggs to hatch. I also own a cat and two dogs. In the past, I've kept lots of bugs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, fish, turtles, anoles, and a collared lizard, which basically means I've got tons of spare tanks lying around.

Other interests of mine include gemstones, silversmithing, coins, Asian art history, guitar, religion, piano, good books, and good food.

Hi guys!!!
My name is Eliza. I'm 21 years and currently working towards my degree in Poli Sci. I have one leo named Webster. I got him about 20 months ago from a pet store that took him after the SPCA rescued him from an poor environment. Because of his very poor first year he has no toes on his front left foot. The funny thing is that I was strolling through the pet store very sad and down right depressed because I had just taken my greyhound into the vet to be put down after she went into kidney failure and the guy who worked there saw I was sad and asked me if I wanted to hold the gecko for a bit to cheer me up. Well, it worked because I went home that night and dug out my old fish tank and was at the store the next day getting all the supplies. Webster sure isn't the same as having a large dog around but he has a certain charm that is irresistable.

My name is Veronica. I live in Pennsylvania. I love all animals and my house shows it. We own 3 cats (siamese, persian, long haird gray) 2 dogs (mini daucshound, golden retriever) loads of leopard geckos and african fat tails, loads of fresh water fish, hamsters, red belly tree frogs.. umm oh yes a horse named Maddy I think thats all of them. We are into English style riding and hope our daughter will get into competitions but we are not pushing her into it. I have been married for 10 plus years, have 3 children and keep very busy with all of their activities as well as trying to maintain an old historical home that needs constant repairs.
Back in 98 i was diagnosed with MS and couldnt walk very well so instead of feeling sorry for myself I started an online group called friends with ms.com and turned it into a non profit! Now awaiting our 501c3 papers I do things like plan a once a year get together each year being in another part of the country, have a buddy program, and all sorts of interactive online programs.

Hi, I'm Leanne (spelt Lianne, my parents are weird hehehe). I'm 26yrs old, soon to be 27 and I live in Ontario Canada. I have 2.5 leopard geckos, 1.0 crested gecko and a small dog named Chip. I am a personal support worker currently supporting developmentally and physically challenged adults. I work shift work (did the overnight shift and i'm going back for the evening shift today). I used to horseback ride in competitions for dressage and jumping. I also used to be in gymnastics, karate, and tai chi. I love to read mystery novels, do artwork (pen&ink, pencil, paint-all types, and sculpt), cook, play computer games, camp, and fish with my dad (we used to go into competitions for steel head). I am the oldest of 3 kids, the only girl but i grew up a tomboy, always coming home full of injuries and covered in dirt lol. I also used to bring home everything i could find from snakes to toads, hurt birds and even a baby raccoon(it and its mother had been hit by a car, it lived only one day ).

I'm a shorty, only 4'10", a red head and still a kid at heart.

I'm 35 years old, and have been breeding leos for a couple of years, keeping for longer. I currently have around 45 but I have just started selling and hope to thin the numbers soon, I'm going to be an exhibitor in my first reptile show next Saturday, in Petaluma, CA, which I am pretty excited about. I do not have any other animals besides leopard geckos.

Hi, I'm Kristin. I'm 24 and live in Pheonix, Arizona (but born and raised in Montana). I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and am eventually planning to go back to school to get my Masters (as soon as I can afford it ... lol).

Right now I own four adorable crested geckos, but am doing research and plan to get a leopard gecko in October at the AZ Reptile show. I also own a yellow lab/golden retriever mix named Tasia. In the past I have owned fresh water fish, green anoles, green tree frogs and house geckos.

Other hobbies include hiking, backpacking, white water rafting, scuba diving ... well anything to do with the outdoors. I also enjoy reading, can crochet a mean blanket and spending time with friends and family.

I'm Alexandra (Alex), 20, and a Biology major in Miami.

I only keep 2 leos, but right now I also keep:
2.3 Green treefrogs
2.1 Cuban treefrogs
2.1 Squirrel treefrogs
1.0.1 Red-Eyed treefrogs
0.0.1 Southern Ringneck snake
0.1 Veiled chameleon
0.0.5 Greenhouse frogs
0.0.4 Tropical House geckos
0.0.4 African dwarf frogs
0.0.1 California Kingsnake (shared w/ my boyfriend)

My dog, Boxer (6-year-old dalmatian), tropical fish, a few wild brown anoles that I watch over and care for, and a Marine Toad I'm trying to get rid of.

I'm into anything that has to do with the ocean, I'm a huge Pixies fan, I love to read, study, and be outdoors. I love the arts, most of them, including visual arts, music, and writing. I've been with my boyfriend for the past two years and he has to suck it up and deal with my animals

I'm living with my family for the time being, although my twin brother leaves in a few weeks to the Marines and I probably will leave again to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in late December. I guess that's me!
