Okay i did everything right with the cooling period and having the right sex of each cali, but everytime i introduced the male to the female she kept trying to eat him??? She couldnt be hungry because i keep up the feeding with her, i would feed her the day before introducing them and she tried to eat him and i tried feeding her the same day i introduced them and she still tried to eat him?? Shes a very healthy and big, 7 years old and is around 3.5 feet. The male is about 3 feet, healty and trim not skinny. This all kept happening last year btw and im going to try to breed them again this year and before i do i wanted to know how i can get her to stop trying to eat him?

I think feeding her more might help. Even though you're feeding her shortly before introduction, she may very well still be hungry. Stuff her and see what happens.

You could also try lowering the temp in her cage for a day. Throw the male in there once he is warm; watch them for a couple mins and he should be able to control her and have his way with her. I would only try this as a second desperate option! It is really just a random thought. lol

The pheromones she exudes during and after a shed should get him kickin'! I have also put her VERY fresh shed in his cage for an hour or two and then let him in, he usually goes ballistic and everything she does is moot.
