Odd female breeding behavior...

bergmantis Jan 31, 2010 09:28 PM

I have had a pair of colombians together since september and witness courting only a few times overall, nothing to make a note of. She shed about 2 weeks ago. I have not witnessed any swelling prior. When I looked at her today, she was on the heat in a tight ball. She woke up from me being in the room and the whole rest of the day, she would not stop crusing around the cage and was being quick and a little jumpy (but not aggressive). I tried feeding her and she refused (very unlike her personality)cause she was looking thin. I thought she was maybe just very hungry (her last meal about 1-2 months ago) but she wanted NOTHING to do with the rat.

This does not seem to be too wierd, but I know her personality from having her for so long and this was def. strange for her. She is normally very calm and slow, and will never refuse a meal.

Do you think even though I never saw swelling, that could still have been a POS? Do any of your pregnant females act this way?

Well how is the male acting ?

Why hasn't she eaten for :

has it been 4 weeks ?

or

has it been 8 weeks ? ,

refusing offered food ?

or

food not offered ?

Those are just a few questions I have
that I'm curious about

Well how is the male acting ? - He isnt showing an interest but also isnt trying to get out of the cage or sitting on the other side.

Why hasn't she eaten for :

has it been 4 weeks ?

or

has it been 8 weeks ? - Last meal was the end of November.

refusing offered food ?

or

food not offered ? - I only offer small meals once every 6 weeks or so during courting.

Thanks!
