rudicollis egg incubation? Dragoon?

AndyG Feb 01, 2010 10:23 AM

While I don't have eggs yet, does anyone have comments regarding incubation of black roughnecks specifically or indos in general? I have a group that was raised together and have recently been "active" Not sure i'm convinced the recipient is female, but alas two of the house mates have taken turns for the past week. There is multiple egg laying chambers, but they probably suck. I was going to use a proportional thermostat/igloo cooler tith heat tape around the inside with water bottles as a heat sink. A styro within the cooler with ziplock serving savers with hatchrite media. Any comments on temp/humidity/ventilation/time etc. The setup worked well for Uros at 95 days and 92 degrees.

Thanks,

Andy

Hopefully you've tackled both ground and elevated/arboreal type nest boxes that area heated. Not only should the soil temp be in the mid 80's deep down, the soil mix should also be of good consistancy. incubating them at temps of 84 to 86 would be a good idea, many species of lizard incubate well at those temps and many breeders recommend so.

If you're animals are up to size, health and age and if the activity you noticed was actually breeding, your female should be ready to lay within a month or so.
Hopefully some people that actually have experience with roughnecks will chime in for you. Good luck.
