Once a pre ovulation swell is witnessed is there a certain window of opportunity that the male has to successfully inject sperm into the female?

If a person saw the pre ov and mistook it for the actual ovulation and happened to remove the male would the follicles just reabsorb?

If the follicles did reabsorb would the male if reintroduced continue to try and breed?

If ovulation never happened what is the wait time before the female would be ready to develope her follicles again?
