water monitor -water

Does a water monitor really need a water container it can soak in available constantly? i.e could you have a drinking bowl available 24/7 and give it a chance to soak say two or three times a week? the substrate would be kept moist at all times, correct basking temps etc. The reason i ask is as i work long shifts it will be easier cage maintenance wise when on shift and then on my days off it can have the large soaking container....If it would effect the monitor in anyway it will have the container 24/7 and i'll deal with it.many thanks. dan

Yea, big (poopy) water pools are a pain to clean, expecially after a log days work.
But they love soaking so much and since they live on river banks, it seems almost mean to deny them something that is in their nature.
Plus I would suggest 2 separate water dishes.
If you go with a big tub, put a smaller) water dish in the cage, up on a low shelf if you can, to keep substrate out of it. They will use the smaller dish for drinking if the tub gets polluted.
Cheers, Todd G.
