Spring feeding

Bolitochrome Feb 02, 2010 02:29 PM

I know most BPs go off food for some or all of the winter months in most states. Has anyone noticed a temperature, day length, barometric pressure, or other trend that resulted in their BPs to start feeding again after their long winter fast?

Or is it even remotely predictable?

Not sure. Here in N Alabama the past 2 weeks we've had lows in the am from 15-30 degrees to high in the mid 50's. Rain, snow, ice you name it. In fact in a 8 day span we had temps in the single didgits and a small ice storm then mid 60's and a tornado! I hate this area..............

Anyway my biggest female (normal, bout 3500 grams) quit eating about 4 months ago when it was typical fall weather. I got tired of offering over and over, quit, then just dropped a small F/T rat in the tub for the heck of it, checked 3 hours later and it was gone.

So who knows.

Here in Nebraska we have been averaging mid-30's for highs and variable lows. I just hope a storm rolls through and gets them in the mood to eat.
