Just a general question who do you think makes the best racks for the money? with heat tape and tubs included.
i own a reptilebasics sweaterbox rack and i love it. they sell there racks with heat and tub also shipping is included in the price. for balls, corns or any other similar sized snakes they are great. i hant tried anyother sizes but so far i am very pleased with the rack.
im in the process of getting a hatchling rack and would like to know if anyone has tried the EP line at animalplastics. they dont use as much material so the cost is much lower than anywhere ive seen.
That question can have many answers depending on your needs - like if you are housing hundreds of hatchlings vs say one clutch, what type of animals, etc. Do you want a closed rack (has sides and back) or an open rack? How large is the space is has to fit? For example, Freedom Breeder racks are awesome but you need a wide enough area to put them in.
My needs are small nowadays. A few 10-slot hatchling racks will suffice easily. I got a superb deal from herpcages.com. I couldn't believe the quality for the price. With these, I had to buy and thread my own heat tape through the shelves, and if you don't know already, heat tape for even a 10-slot hatchling rack can cost $25 easily. What I like about my herpcages.com racks is that, if I want, I can do belly heat or back heat - he cut slots for both. I also like the material - it is high density polystyrene (same as RBI), a very tough material that works very well in such applications.
You need to consider your requirements, then decide from there.
Anymore, nearly all rack mfgrs use computer-controlled cutting machinery and quality materials, and the tolerances are just beautiful. I really do not think you will be disappointed with whatever you get.
