Cool snakes, I'm always surprised how much they can look like corn snakes.

Me too.....
I am thinking of improving on that Nuchal striping going on....
Back in the 90s I saw a Mex Mex that had a nuchal stripe 1/3 of its length....But back then I didn't know if it was a hybrid or not.......

Here's some I have with some nice striping going on.....

I forgot to add....
The top two pictured are from Black and Granite lines....
And the bottom two pictured are form the Hypo-E line.....
So....ALL THREE phases along with striping is represented there......

I just hope I get to see all these Mex Mex I have pictured in my head......LOL

I am just excited again about the hobby......More than ever really......

glad to see it's happening to you too.......after my long 3 year break away to pursue/complete the ol' master's degree ('02 - '05) and having NO snakes, it's good to be back and concentrated on my love . . . . .

Great pictures John. Of the 5 mex mex that I have, only 1 is awake and actively feeding volutarily. A male and 2 females are in bruamtion because they got tired of fighting winter, I guess. My remaining female is being fed mouse tails, she just will not voluntarily eat. I am determined not to give up on her.
Thanks again for sharing the shots.

I hope the ground color turns coal black and the saddles brighten up to red/orange.....Like this......

Jlassiter Feb 04, 2010 07:58 PM

This trio I have are from those adults I posted....
Pigment mutations in Mex Mex are ontogenetic....
The black phase and the Hypo-Es hatch out "normal" looking then the black phase's ground color darkens with each shed and the hypo-e's saddles lighten with each shed......

I sure would like to see a single snake to both at the same time........Maybe after this summer we'll have some that do......

Those black phase and hypo-Es are just stunning. I hope you do get a single snake or more at the same time and with a nuchal strip. They would be hotter than hell looking mex mex.

Thanks Jeff.....I would love to see the 5 you have.....
And I have one 2009 male that is stubborn too.....He ate well for a few meals then turned down the last few weeks......I've turned up the temps.....Placed two wet moss hides on the warm side and cool side......Deepened the Aspen......Tried brained/live pinks....Anole scented pinks.....Washed pinks....tease feeding with no avail....he hasn't lost that much weight...I am thinking of cooling him for a couple weeks and bringing him up with the breeders.....

Thanks John,
Good to know I'm not the only one with occasional fussy snakes. Yes, I have to get more computer literate so I can post some pictures online.

Hey Todd, I cannot wait to see some babies. I hope you get a boatload of them. I enjoy my winters of peace and forum free quiet haha, but soon I will have some new pics for the forum. A lot of my stuff looks the same, I cooled all my 09s for a month.. but now they're up and HUNGRY.

I've been working on music and other things, laying low avoiding the drama of the herp world. I was in Vegas in October, heading to Baltimore in May and may actually travel a good bit this year. Any which way I will be breeding snakes, looking forward to it.

I play guitar as well, but nothing like your genre....
I play more of the grunge genre.....

Actually the sun is shining here FINALLY......
It has been a great cold winter though for brumating.....
It's gonna be fun again watching snakes hatch.....
I hope we get some good eggs.....
I'll go sacrifice some more pinky mice to the snake gods in a bit........
