Snake attitude?

louisianalure Feb 04, 2010 01:39 PM

My corn just shed it's skin this morning. I was curious to know if they tend to be moody after shedding. I went to pick it up when I noticed it had shed, and the reaction to my hand was agitated, striking, and retreat. It fed Monday. Temp and humidity has been at a good level for the passed few days.

I noticed some snakes get calm during shed for some reason. Not all, but some do. Others get aggitated because of discomfort and cloudy vision.

Today is the schedule day for feeding. Should I wait to feed, or is it ok to go ahead?

Go ahead and feed. Most snakes chow vigorously after shedding. Are you from LA? What part?

I do live in louisiana. Baton Rouge to be exact. I have a cousin that lives in Mansfield that has 17 different boas and pythons, as well. Where are you from?

I live in good old BR as well!! What are you keeping?

Just a creamsicle corn I got from petco off of seigen. It's still a baby and still aggravated lol.

Thats cool. I go to that one for supplies quite a bit. The Petsmart on Millerville has a few corns and a sand boa right now. Keep your eyes peeled for the local shows in New Orleans at the Alario center and hopefully in Slidell this summer. Great selection of different snakes mostly direct from the breeders, and the prices are half as much as Petco if not more!! Other herps like lizards and tortoises/turtles as well.

I will definitely keep an ear to the ground. I was wondering if they had any shows down here, havn't seen any posted on other sites. Thanks again for all of the info! It's been alot of help.

What all are you keeping? and, you wouldn't happen to be the guy I ran into the other day that was buying f/t's, and had a pitbull with him.. haha long shot, I know, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Keep an eye peeled on the events section here on Kingsnake.com The Alario show in New Orleans usually posts. Typically they have a show in winter and early summer. Also, Reptiles mag usually has the show postings. The pickings arent great as far as shows close to BR, but there are a couple here and there. Also, you can join the Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society out of New Orleans.

Wasnt me with the Pitbull LOL!! I buy all my mice online in bulk. I have mostly corns with a few kings and milks thrown in and a pair of bullsnakes.
