By the pic you posted I would agree with Doug, however you should still have it probed to make sure. I will use these next pics to show the necessity if you want to be 0 sure.

Most people would look at these pics and tell you with some certainty that these are pics of a female, which was also my initial thought, but when I probed it was undoubtably a male. So you can get a good idea of the sex by pics but if you are looking to buy a mate or have to know for sure of the sex I would recommend you have it probed.

thanks for both replies. i know this method of sexing isnt 100% but i am not a breeder and i just would like to know the sex out of curiosity.

....female.....
....I don't trust probes....or people using them....
(yes I can probe...yes I do...)....
I pop almost always.. or in the case of corns...just look at them....

I totally agree bro!.....
On tiny weak-muscled corns and such, there is no need whatsoever to go probing their delicate soft tissue when you can simply "pop" them. Certain times I will double check with some much older snakes with stronger muscle control once in a while, but I just don't need to with puny little young hatchlings, simple as that really, just like you said.

everyone and anyone that needs to elarn to pop and or probe...truly...breed a pair of amel corns....you can see through the underside of the snake and actually see or not see the penes....then pop them and probe them to see if you know what you are doing.....also since amel corns are worth $3 wholesale ,,,it really don't matter ......HA!
(OK...not just amels...pretty much all corns $)....
.....see through works...it will teach what you got.....
....also ...some of you guys have these huge mitts....you could probably pop an 8 foot boa.....try that one at home !!!....

Yes, there are some that now and then give a false impression of their sex just by looking. But even the snake you are posting looks to be a male to me. I try to disregard the cloaca and above, just as with yours there, it looks extremely full towards the aft-end, and looks like it will be defficating any time there..LOL!
The snakes tail itself however, is still pretty even looking and long, and doesn't taper very much at all. But YES!, I fully agree that out of the vast majority, some will look a bit off compared to the others.
I sexed tons of corns and milks at my friends table at the Repticon show in Orlando, and while popping, I sexed them visually just prior to popping. And yes, I was correct about 99% of the time just by looking, but I WAS INDEED wrong on one out of the bunch visually before popping.
Good post!

You are exactly right with the pics I posted. It was just full, but to a lot of people with out the snake in hand and going strictly off pics it would be labeled a female.

I could count on one hand the number of people that have been doing this as long as you have Doug so I wouldn't be throwing that out there implying that it is normal to have that kind of visual accuracy. I have bought an animal at a show thinking it was a female after it was popped in front of me (yes, I was much younger then) that turned out to be a male, so even popping is not 100 percent fool proof.
To return to the original poster's animal, I would much rather take my chances with a probe than try to pop a snake with that size.
-Thomas
Oh,...I absolutely agree!. The snake the original poster showed us, would be better off probed rather than "popped" for sure.
There are definitely different circumstances and situations that warrant differently applied techniques.
