Baby racks - best value?

tcdrover Feb 05, 2010 09:53 AM

What do you think is the best value with regard to space, quantity & quality?

I'm getting ready to buy one of these in the next couple of
months.

The big vision model that can house 72 tubs seems like the one
that suits me best. I should be able to use bigger tubs on
some of the shelves, so it seems more flexible than the other
ones that I've looked at.

Do you recomend any, what are you using, are you happy with the
ones that you have?

Thanks,
tc

I have 6 of the Boaphile RhinoRaxx. Love em!! 30 slots per rack, stacked three tall is 90 slots per stack. all in 1 33" x 14" footprint. Flexwatt belly heat, clear polycarbonate drawers. My babies thrive in them.

They're mostly the same in terms of use, so just do the number of tubs divided into the price for your cost value. Ten tubs for 100 dollar rack, 10 bucks per slot for example. I have AP baby racks, no complaints, but I've found something I do look at now. The tubs themselves. Can I get more, is it a brand that changes the style all the time? So, I would go with an Iris tub rack as they tend to keep the same style vs. something like rubbermaid or sterilite. If you do the math on the cost per tub, some brands are a lot higher and using approximately the same size tub you'll end up with similar floor space needs, just in different variations. Can you go two wide, or three wide, and how high can you go. You can go to the ceiling, but I have some TALL racks I don't even bother with some of the upper tubs because it's just a complete pain and brings on risks you don't need to take. A flighty baby that shoots out of a 7' high tub onto the floor in the blink of an eye isn't ideal.
