Light Box Photo

pyromaniac Feb 05, 2010 10:05 PM

This is my 08 wc Pacific gopher Gomez. I took this photo in a home made light box and adjusted the background in Photoshop to be lighter. I am going to photograph all my snakes in the light box in a few days; she was one of the only ones who hadn't eaten today when I got this idea from another forum. Still learning and eventually hope to be pretty good at making nice pics of my animals.

Would welcome any suggestions as to how to get the subject to stay still! Gomez was on her way out of the light box when I took this photo.

That's really cool. How do you make one?

This is the instructions I used. There are variation on the same theme.

Getting rid of the gray background with Photoshop.

Start of shoot with snake under hide to contain her.

Actual shoot right after removing hide.

After cropping and some background light adjustment in Photoshop.
Need a bigger lightbox for my bulls!
You can make the whole background white with further adjustments. My lightbox is made out of odds and ends I had laying around. I plan on making a bigger better one later.

She weighs about 140 grams now. When I rescued her from the cat early last spring (uninjured) she weighed about 30 grams. She is very seasonal in her feeding habits, eats well all warm season but goes off feed for the winter.
