Mt. king care vs. other king care

KingsRiverKid Feb 06, 2010 08:41 PM

I've been wanting to get one of the Mt. kings specificly the Tarahumara mt. king and I cant find anywhere where it says anything diffrent for the care of these kings when compared to normal kings. any pointers or web links would be very helpful. thanks

Care should be pretty much similar to most other available lampropeltis species. I've found that mountain kings (pyromelana in my experience)can become quite stressed out with overly hot/warm temperatures.
Other then that, care is standard.

Moisture is very important...

could not agree more. i've heard and tried soaking pyro's to induce eating, works like a dream. i actually leave quite a bit of damp long fibered sphagnum in the tanks at all time.
cheers-zach
