Id at least use the 28 qt sweater box sterlite size. I think they are like 4 bucks a piece, definately under five. well a few years ago anyways. they are 5 3/4 in tall 23 in long 16 1/4 wide. But its all a matter of preference. Some people go way larger some a tad under for smaller adults. Hope this helps.

Hi

Most people use the 28-32 quart tubs that you find in stores for medium sized colubrids. But if you really want to give ample room for the snakes to move you can use the Iris CB-70 or better yet the Vision Products V-70. I have both and prefer the better quality/thickness and smooth bottoms of the visions for my DIY racks. Hope that helps.

If you want to go with a tub the size of a 50 gallon tank the Container Store has a tub 18"x36Animal Plastics makes a rack for them that is well made AND inexpensive for it if you want to maybe reconsider building your own(900 series I believe). I have considered trimming off the little "L" feet on the bottom so the tub does not "bump" when slid open. I talked to AP a little while back and they said if you sent them a tub trimmed they could build the rack with the removal taken into account. They are such good quality and priced inexpensivly that sometimes building isn't worth it. No warping concerns either!

What's nice about going for the bigger tubs is that you are getting the convienience of a rack with the floor space of a cage you would have if cost/space wasn't a big concern.

Good luck!
