Ok - so the rumors are true

I am in fact considering keeping a few kingsnakes again,
specifically I'm looking at a few Zonata.

I would do alterna or annulata but I really don't want to go through the paperwork hassle of working with my native species
and so will look at working with non-natives instead.

OMG kevin, thanks for the laugh! It is true however, I read so many posts of people coming back for more after they decide to step back. The other thing is you never totally leave. You may give up most of the collection, but there is always that one you cant give away.

In 2006 I was down to two snakes. Both were 1998s I bought as hatchlings and were keeping just as pets LOL!! One was the second corn I ever had, and the other was my first greybanded king. They were living in a four hole rack I had bought and herp life was very, very simple!! I was just burnt and really wasnt paying much attention to those two. Feeding every other week, not really handling them, or paying much thought to them. Well, now I am back up to about thirty snakes, four lizards, and five tortoises and loving every minute of it for the most part LOL!! I still have that corn and she produced for me last year and I plan to breed her again this year. She is a very hale and hearty animal. Unfortunately the greybanded king past away last summer when he came out of brumation.

Addictive isn't it? First one, then a whole room full. You can go to snakes anonymous for years, but you'll be back!

aint' that god's own truth? I got mostly out of herps while in college, only keeping a few personal favorites (2 boas, sav monitor)...now I'm back in full swing and god it's good to be back!

I think it says something that I do my morning snake checks before I go to read the funnies or eat breakfast...

That's great Jeff.....
I too will venture into zonata this year....But I am going to get a few alterna again...
Trying to stay with the mexicana/montane theme all around....LOL
Thayeri, Greeri, Mexicana, Ruthveni, Knoblochi, Pyromelana, Alterna & Zonata....If only we could get some Webbi into the hobby.....

Share some pics and info on the ones you acquire....
I'm sure we will all enjoy them...

May you enjoy it to the fullest!

So lets see, I'm in California, so I can have alterna galore w/o anyone caring.

You're in Texas, so you can have zonata galore w/o anyone caring.

But the reverse is not true (without paperwork).

Well, zonata are perhaps the most striking kings. Alterna are perhaps the most interesting kings. I guess it is win-win for both of us.
