Corn Snake refusing food?

stormshadow007 Feb 12, 2010 04:53 PM

Our somewhat new corn (our first snake, but I am an experienced, long-time herper in the monitor/geckos field) has stopped eating. The guy hasnt eaten in over a month, nor has he shed during that time. He was eating 1 pink (prekilled, thawed) a week when we got him, and we continued him on that for about three weeks before he stopped eating. No changes to environment or cage temps occured, other than the removal of an overhead lamp being replaced by a undertank heating mat. Over temp remained the same, but I removed the basking spot. Room temp is balmy - 73 ish - for the monitors and such. Any ideas or suggestions?

you say no changes to environment but then you say you changed the heat source and removed the basking spot.
Those are obvious changes.
You need to check the temps and make sure they are right.
You need to check temps at the bottom of the tank, at the top of the substarte, inside hides and ambient temps. If you are using a screen top you may need to cover it partially.
