I got em!

Hey guys --

I went and ogled about....30?....09 Brazilian rainbows today, and brought two home with me. You may remember that I had placed deposits on two snakes, pictures posted below:

905:

965:

We had discussed here on the forum about whether 965 was likely to grow into a good bright color.

I ended up purchasing 905, who is just about as gorgeous in person as he was in the photo. I did NOT purchase 965, but he has also developed into a very nicely colored animal since that photo was taken. Instead I purchased a clutchmate of his, pictured below. This clutchmate is almost identical in color to how 965 looks now, but he has more striking eye spots (crescents) than 965.

It also turns out that all of the youngsters are older than I expected. Both of these guys were born in May. So they're a good bit larger than I thought they would be. They also seem to be good and calm. Overall, I'm quite a happy camper.

If I ever find my camera, I'll post new pics!

Thanks guys!

It is soooo irritating to me that the reproductive cycle is so much slower for snakes than chickens. Dangit. Ya gotta wait YEARS to get even a first clutch, and then you only get one clutch a year. So even if I did decide to breed these guys, I'd have to wait forever to really know what they'd produce. Very annoying!

That's one of the reasons I breed chickens. Nearly instant gratification!
