I have been growing more and more fond of the Solomon Island Ground Boas, i have also noticed some are labeled as Isabel Island. What is the difference between the two if any?

and while we are on the subject i may as well ask for some husbandry info also, thing like temp and humidity requirements, sizes, diets, how are they to keep... im just basically looking to pick your brain, so what can you tell me about them?

I've got no answers for you -- but did you see the ones being sold in the classified section right now? Very attractive!

Stephen,

Have you seen this site? It's supposed to be a really good resource for candoia:

yes i actually just found that last night, good stuff.

i did end up finding a couple care sheets, that page and a breeders page... all of that gave me some good info

they are nocturnal (ugh figures) not very active at all meaning slow metabolism meaning they dont eat much, and dont get very big (but thats not a bad thing). from the sounds of it a small meal every 3 or 4 weeks. they naturally eat frogs and lizards so its hard to get them to switch to mice or rats but they do take sometimes.

i wish i was in a position to get more snakes, however its probably best that im not otherwise my collection would explode. lol i would have a bunch of a couple kinds plus a couple of a bunch more kinds. it most likely wont be for years but i just put Candoias right up at the top of my wish list. after seeing some pictures i just think they are gorgeous snakes

Isabel Island is one Island found in the Solomon Isles. Many if not all snakes [Candoia c. paulsoni] are a white color in some form or other. I have seen almost snow white snakes with black or red stripes. Generaly this is the locale boa most people want. Also keep in mind there is another species of boa found in the Solomans also called Candoia bibroni australis. This is a much thinner built more arboreal snake than Candoia c. paulsoni. C. b. australis is polymorphic similar to Amazon Tree Boas ranging from solid yellow to dark grey or black in color. I'm a slow typist but I used to breed both species and have had thousands of them. If you call me at 239-645-9661 I'll be happy to answer any and all questions you might have..thanks
