venom in vegas

Tbone21 Feb 16, 2010 07:20 PM

I watched this so called documentry of people stressing out snakes. But my point is there was a green aboreal snake that was in the box not the green mamba or the boomslang. I believe it was non venemous, really slender. Anyone know what this was? I was trying to find a complete list of the snakes online but no luck.

I haven't seen it, and perhaps someone who has will speak up. Is there is a chance it was a.prasina? Asian Vine Snake? They are considered rear fanged venomous, a very long slender snake, arboreal, with a very distinctive head. I grabbed someones pic from the photo gallery here to show the head.

There is a full list on Animal Planet.com. It was not a documentary nor was it to raise money. Merely to show snakes can be in close contact to humans without bad outcomes. They had vets on the scene and took care of the snakes(heated hides, soaks, and the like). Everyone keeps forgeting the main point, It's entertainment and not to be taken as a scientific display or study. Most actual scientific fact about reptiles when told to someone outside the reptile community go in one ear and out the other. Everyone seems to have selective hearing based on weather they like or dislike the program.

........harmless Rough Green Snake(Opheodrys aestivus)that are indigenous to southeastern North America. He had several others in there that were not native to Africa as well.

I thought the show was just another stupid sensationalistic show to make the "common-folk" of the general public go....OOOOH!and AHH!.....as ALWAYS of course. Most any show ever made is directed at making them "seem" scary,.....PERIOD!

Here is a link to the list of snakes they had in the enclosure that also verifies it was a Rough Green Snake,...not to mention I used to have several of these decades ago as a kid in the late 60's early 70's.
