Im devastated

THESNAKEDEN Feb 16, 2010 07:57 PM

On Saturday i let my boys in the snake room while i cleaned a few cages. My snake room is my old office in my house that my ex wife currently occupies(but i pay for). Apparently my 6 yr old pulled a plug out to charge his nintendo ds and that plug happened to be the 100 watt radiant heat panel that was keeping my pregnant 7ft albino girl at appropriate temps. I went back today to do some maintenance on the boys and girls and shot this girls temps and she was 68. She is due april 20th, whats the chance that everything will be ok considering her heats been off since Sat 5pm. till tues 5pm. Basically 3 days at roughly 68 degrees. Pumped the heat up and keeping warm at 92 now, what am i too expect, anything positive here or should i expect a very bad litter???
Thanks for your input.
Ralph

I acn only guess that sometimes in the wild this can and sometimes happen. Can only assume life will find a way. Kinda like Jaraskic park.. Id plan for an April 20th delivery as scheduled..

I had a similar sitution where my herpstat rest its settings last year?

I am not sure how it happened and not sure how long the temps were down but at least 5 days and my female had a healthy litter with no slugs. The temps newer dropped below 80 tho since my entire room is heated.

I wish you the best of luck and hope everything turns out for the best!

I think all will be fine. If the mom is ok, the babies are probably ok as well. Best of Luck with her.

Thanks guys, fingers crossed.

They will be fine. Mom needs to be able to reach 88 to 89 degrees during the gestation period. If your female is constantly on the heat, your heated space is either too small or too cool. One time cooling for a few days won't matter.

Good luck!

Thanks Sharon, thanks Jeff. Im real excited for this litter and have been working on it for a few years. Mom seems to be fine. I guess as with any litter, we sit, wait and hope for good things.
